A food processor is never going to be totally quiet. Some brands are louder than others.

What you want is one that will process the food quickly so you don't have to listen to the noise.

A cheap brand will take longer----hence more noise. A cheap brand will also break easily. They end up cosing you more in the long run if you keep replacing them.

Try a Cuisinart.

Generally you can't have a completely silent food processor, but the best brand and possibly most quiet would be Kenwood.
To your boyfriend's question, yes that is true. Think of it like getting Woolies Home Brand Milk and comparing it with Harvey Fresh Milk; your processor and Kenwood processor. Home Brands are always cheap and dodgy so never get home brand stuff unless you are poor !
The Kenwood brand probs has slice mince and shred , but its around $1160 bucks (gift from my friend ;))

Cheap can equal loud - if you bought a $14 rival food processor with a Chinese motor then it's going to be loud. I don't consider motor noise to motor power. My food processor is a Cuisinart, sort of middle of the road in price - new, it was about $80. They make ones that rise closer to the $150 plus price point now.
The ninja isn't really a food processor, doesn't look that quiet on the commercials and kinds of just blends stuff. I am leery of kitchenaid's newer items as I had a very expensive appliance crash, repaired only to crash again. I replaced it with one built in the 80's.
Google reviews of food processors, you will find honest opinions and reviews. I am due to buy a new food processor soon - I will be looking to the Hobart home one as well as others.
If you use yours a lot, consider getting a really good quality one.

I have a CUISINART POWER PREP 11 cup model that I've had for about 8 years. 11 cups is a perfect size for my needs. I did pay about $150.00 for it. I have also heard that the KITCHEN AID is also of good quality. If your needs require a larger model, you will pay more. I suggest you go to amazon.com where they have a large selection, plus customer reviews. Happy shopping.

Robot-Coupe is widely used in the food industry and they made the Magimix by Robot-Coupe to compete with Cuisinart in homes. I have both and there is no difference. If its a matter of money, I would go with the Cuisinart.

Home kitchen food processors run the range $30 Black & Decker 8-cup units (FP1600B) up over $700 for high-end Cuisinart 20-cup units. Important factors for choosing between food processors are bowl capacity, power, and warranty.

You could stick with Hamilton Beach and get a Big Mouth (70573H) for only about $60 -- good value for a 14-cup machine.

If you want to try something new, check out the Braun Multiquick (K650) for $150. It does have a smaller capacity (9-cup) than the Big Mouth but has 20% more power (600 watts). It also has a dough blade, which the Big Mouth lacks, and lots of blades. It's very highly regarded by Amazon reviewers (4.7 stars over 91 reviews currently).

Mw, firstly check with Hamilton Beach, some parts are interchangeable, I agree with Califir. But for a couple of years we have been testing brands of appliances (gee it's great to be on the users list), so far we are impressed with KITCHENAID products, for the exception of a couple of the pot items.

Try eBay - you might find such an entire used food processor for less than what most parts places charge for a single part.

The best replacement (if you mean substitute) for a food processor really depends on what you used your food processor for. Sometimes a blender will work, but not always.

I have a Hamilton Beach also...It depends if your model is still on the market...if not you might have a difficult time finding that particular part...I love mine and would hate if it broke...But I would buy another Hamilton Beach...
